@cindysirinya : Had ourselves an artsy night out at the opening of the new contemporary urban street art gallery @aurumartgallery. Loved the colors, energy and urban vibes of all the pieces from various artists around the world. We had the pleasure of meeting the charming @mrgoldie himself and now both the kids are begging me for gold teeth 🤦🏻♀️ (told them wait till you’re 21 and u can do whatever you want) After browsing around a bit, I asked them to pick their favorite pieces. Aiden chose a pair of paintings from @saturnoart. When asked why he explained that it’s because the vibrant colonies reminded him of the elements of fire and water elements and he liked the ancient headdresses and crowns adorning the dragon-like creatures. Quite a detailed critique for a 7 year old. 😳 Leila chose a painting by @barryreigate because the childish drawings and cartoon characters made her happy. But upon hearing a fellow artist tell us about how the painting was influenced from the artists past relationship with his father, she started to make out that in between the seemingly cheerful cartoon doodles, there lie angst-ridden scribbles and more sinister characters. Then she wasn’t so sure. I explained you don’t always have to “like” the art. But if it moves you to emotion in some way, then it has served its purpose. As for me I was drawn to the piece by @matt_j_adams as it seems to be a merging of painting, photography and poetry all in one. 🖤 We also met with local Thai artist @wal.chirachai and he explained the meaning behind his striking paintings and his process. All in all, a very enjoyable and educational visit for all of us. Will have to make this a regular activity. Next stop the Andy Warhol exhibit coming to BKK next month! 🎉🎉🎉
