Read on to find out more about the amazing woman behind it... 1. Who are you? Raksha Sachdev – 26 years old, Thai-Indian I’m obsessed with beaches, tacos and dogs! 2. What do you do? Business Development Manager for Masala Magazine and founder of Bangkok Booch – Premium Craft Kombuchas. 3. What inspires you? My community! As an international student with a Thai-Indian background and loads of expat and local friends, I feel so blessed to be surrounded by amazing and super supportive people who keep on encouraging my whacky ideas. A couple of years ago, I really started missing the healthy food and drinks that were so readily available in Vancouver, Canada – where I attended university – so I decided to start making them myself. During the covid lockdown I realized I had too much kombucha on my hands and started sending it over to my friends and family. I was constantly experimenting with local thai flavors that I absolutely loved but were not available in any kombucha products across Thailand. My friends and family encouraged me to start selling my product as they thought it was unique, healthy and oh so refreshing and thus Bangkok Booch was born. Every flavor and every product I have created since our establishment has been influenced and inspired by my community. On social media and at events I will constantly ask those who love or hate kombucha what they would like us to do next and I’ve always built upon that to expand my business. I think one of the leading contributors to Bangkok Booch’s success is listening to the community. 4. Words of advice? DON’T GIVE UP. There will be certain times where you feel like you’re not doing enough, you’re not selling enough or you do not have enough time to focus on your small business, but it is all part of the process.
